When we talk about domestic violence, we often think first about emergency help: a shelter, a helpline, a police intervention, a safe place to sleep. And of course, these things matter enormously. But what happens afterwards? What does a woman need when the immediate danger has passed? How does she rebuild her confidence? How does she regain her independence, understand the mechanisms of violence and control, reconnect with other people and begin imagining a different future?

In March I got photoshooted in a traditional folk costume of the Kalotaszeg region (Transylvania).
